Principal Performance Quality Engineer

Reporting to the Director of Performance Automation & Testing Team, you will be responsible for providing performance testing services across a diverse set of applications, technologies, and teams as part of the Enterprise Technology Software Engineering Domain.

This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team and support the integration and delivery of performance testing in a CI/CD context working with teams in the US, India, and Ireland.

We are seeking a Principal Performance Engineer with a passion for Performance testing. We are interested in someone who is enthusiastic about their craft; enjoys continuous learning and has the drive to implement change.

The Expertise We’re Looking For:

  • BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
  • 10+ Years Performance Testing Experience required.
  • Extensive practical experience using JMETER Performance test tool
  • Working knowledge of Jenkins required
  • AWS Experience (on services like EC2 / RDS / S3 / IAM / Secrets Manager) desirable.
  • Strong Programming experience in at least two of the following: Groovy, Bash, Java and Python
  • Use of Grafana / Influx DB for Performance test reporting
  • Working experience of version control tools such as Bitbucket, GutHub
  • Experience using Monitoring and Diagnostic tools such as Splunk and Datadog
  • Experience leading cross BU performance initiatives to drive enterprise level goals forward (SRE Governance Support, Squad Enablement for Performance Self-Service, Chaos Testing Support etc.) by working with other dependent teams (Infra, networking, cloud and other platform support teams)
  • Provide Technical leadership to the Senior Engineers in Team
  • Excellent understanding of Systems Architecture, web technologies and operating systems
     

The Skills You Bring:

  • Experience performing performance tests in an Agile environment (Kanban, Scrum)
  • Able to Design and implement automated performance tests using Jenkins to support Continuous integration
  • Experience testing APIs, HTTP traffic and UI based Performance tests using Selenium WebDriver in conjunction with JMETER
  • Cloud experience to support test infra provisioning via CloudFormation / Terraform
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability through self-directed task management on project delivery work and backlog items based on priority
  • Demonstrate initiative to evaluate and recommend new tools and processes aligned to performance testing strategic objectives
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Help teams to embed integrated performance testing to support continuous integration and ensure early feedback in the development lifecycle via Performance Self-Service Framework
  • Deliver Application based Performance testing ensuring scope is appropriately documented, performed, monitored and performance issues effectively remediated
  • Support Chaos Testing engagements, SRE Performance Governance Gateways and Engineering Excellence Maturity Model Framework
  • Continuously develop skills and coach other Sr. Engineers on team
  • Challenge the status quo ensuring continuous improvement of the Performance testing shared service
  • Maintaining status of projects, initiates discussions with stakeholders or external groups to resolve issues, works directly with the user community for project definition.
  • Identifying and supporting the implementation of Process Improvements
