Software Development

Our developers design and develop key business applications that help Fidelity maintain its competitive edge within the financial services industry. They combine industry knowledge with technical expertise to provide innovative and practical solutions to Fidelity's business challenges. Example applications range from high volume customer-facing transactional sites such as those used for trading and brokerage services to internal facing tools and services. Development in this area spans from the front-end, through the middle-tier and back end. These applications are developed using an extensive variety of technologies including, but not limited to, Java, .NET, C++, various scripting languages such as Perl and Javascript, Groovy, Oracle, Sybase and a host of open source frameworks such as Spring, Ibatis and Hibernate. Delivery methodologies vary from Waterfall to Agile depending on the team.

QA/Test

Our QA teams play a critical role in protecting our production environments by ensuring Fidelity's applications meet requirements and perform to the highest standards. Quality, reliability, consistency and integration in every application we produce enables Fidelity to keep its trusted reputation intact. The role of our quality assurance engineers is varied and testing exposure includes functional, user interface, back end, database, performance, capacity, and automated testing. Tools used throughout the test cycle include IBM Rational Team Concert, HP Quick Test Pro, HP Load Runner, HP Quality Centre.

Systems Analysis

Our systems analysts combine business knowledge with technical expertise to assist with the design of innovative solutions that meet the challenges faced by Fidelity business units. Our analysts collaborate with business partners, business analysts, software developers and quality assurance engineers to gather project specifications and to define system scope and objectives. Responsibilities range from requirements gathering, system scoping, documentation and modeling, to testing and validation. Using various techniques, including interviews, workshops and focus groups, our systems analysts become subject matter experts on their customers' IT requirements and ensure that solutions meet defined objectives.

Project Management/Technical Management

Our engineers and analysts support key programmes within the Information Security space for Fidelity, working towards the goals of protecting our information and maintaining the trust of our customers. Our analysts possess industry knowledge and accreditations, along with a high degree of technical capability that allows us to achieve these goals. The teams work in a myriad of information security areas including application security, cyber security detection, identity and access management, compliance, and endpoint security. Our analysts possess certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM and are consistently developing their skill-sets in a fast-paced, ever changing information security environment.

Information Security

Our engineers and analysts support key programmes within the Information Security space for Fidelity, working towards the goals of protecting our information and maintaining the trust of our customers. Our analysts possess industry knowledge and accreditations, along with a high degree of technical capability that allows us to achieve these goals. The teams work in a myriad of information security areas including application security, cyber security detection, identity and access management, compliance, and endpoint security. Our analysts possess certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM and are consistently developing their skill-sets in a fast-paced, ever changing information security environment.

Web Design

Our team of designers specialise in the design of usable and accessible websites and web applications. They collaborate with Fidelity business units to help align a customer's web offering to their business goals and objectives and deliver content and functionality based on user needs. Our team includes information architects/interaction designers, visual designers, style guide guardians and prototypers who collaborate closely with other Fidelity design teams in the US and UK. The latest web technologies including CSS 2 and 3, XHTML, JavaScript (prototype, dojo, jquery), GWT and Flex are always used to ensure the best user experience. Sample projects range from Rich Internet Applications for Financial Advisers that provide account information, trading, and reporting functionality, to customer facing transactional sites for US, European and Asian customers and to intranet sites for employees.

Operations

Fidelity's Operations teams provide seamless, high-availability processing services to support the firm's diverse activities that are at the heart of Fidelity's reputation for quality and customer service. Our engineers manage the end-to-end infrastructure that supports Fidelity's business applications, from back end mainframes through to client applications. As part of a global organisation, the Operations teams work as part of a "follow the sun" rotation with the US, Ireland, and in some cases India. A role within the Operations area is varied and offers exposure to a broad array of systems, tools, and business challenges. Key skill sets in the operations area include a cross section of operating systems administration, network management, database administration and security management.

Systems Engineering

Our systems engineers design and implement enterprise solutions. The activities in this space are diverse and range from providing enterprise application lifecycle management (ALM) tools and services to designing and implementing Fidelity's market data platform. In the ALM area, our engineers install and configure the ALM toolsets to 'industry best' standards. Current tools used include Quality Center, Rational Team Concert, Sonar, Nexus, ClearCase, BuildForge, Jira and Confluence. In the market data space, our engineers are focused on the implementation of systems to deliver market data to internal and external consumers. Key skill sets in this area include network management, database administration, Java and various scripting languages.

Leap Graduate Programme

Finance

Our finance team provides comprehensive financial support to multiple international Fidelity entities across a number of geographic locations. Entities supported include the domestic software development company, asset management entities and property rental companies across Europe and Asia. This support encompasses a full suite of financial services, ranging from payroll support, purchasing and accounts payable services to accounting services, taxation, compliance and management reporting. Our team, which includes a number of professionally qualified accountants, is equipped with a large and mixed variety of skills to accommodate the provision of these services. They leverage off the core Fidelity financial systems in place and work in partnership with the main business leads to provide insights to the major stakeholders within the supported businesses.

Human Resources

People are Fidelity's greatest asset and what makes Fidelity's success possible. Our HR Team are dedicated to ensuring we hire, motivate, retain and develop our staff so Fidelity continues to achieve outstanding business success. The team performs both hands-on and strategic roles in providing human resources expertise to the organisation. We support specific organisations, functions and geographic locations across the enterprise. We work closely with our business partners and are instrumental in initiating and driving programmes in the areas of talent management, employee relations, leadership development and coaching, compensation and benefits management, and organisational development.
