The Fidelity Center for Applied Technology (FCAT) is an innovation catalyst within Fidelity Investments. We help Fidelity’s clients, businesses and associates imagine the possibilities of new ideas and emerging technologies that enhance the customer experience and spur Fidelity’s growth. FCAT Europe was formed in 2012 and leads this mission for the Europe region.
We are seeking a Director of Innovation & Design Strategy to lead Innovation Strategy and Design Thinking for FCAT Europe, based at our Dublin, Ireland office.  The Fidelity Center for Applied Technology (FCAT) is the innovation catalyst within Fidelity Investments.  We inspire the organization to creatively develop new products and amazing customer experiences. The Director of Innovation and Design Strategy will be responsible for optimizing the innovation strategy for the Ireland sites and will coach others and consult on innovation and design thinking programmes across the business. You will also work with FCAT incubators; small teams run like start-ups working on challenging, ambiguous, human-centered problems worth solving.
Our team acts as innovation catalysts and is looking for people who know how to inspire others and instill a customer centric approach to problem solving. You will manage a team of innovators and designers, reporting to the Head of FCAT Europe, and will work closely with our FCAT and other teams across the globe in US, India and China.
The Expertise We’re Looking For
  • Have 10+ years of experience in Innovation Strategy & Execution/ Design Thinking / Design Research / Design Strategy
  • Have been responsible for the successful implementation of an innovation strategy across a large diverse organization
  • Experience teaching and applying Design Thinking principles, tools and application with a non-design audience
  • Experience facilitating group workshops
  • Possess the ability to design and execute qualitative research using a number of methods based on project goals and timelines
  • Can inspire and co-ordinate a cross-disciplinary team in empathy work and ideation
  • A synthesis star – ability to get to the “so what,” actionable insights, key frameworks and opportunity areas from research so the whole team can move forward
  • A story-crafter and teller
The Purpose of Your Role
The Director of Innovation & Design Strategy in Dublin will own the strategy for embedding mature innovation behaviours into our Ireland workforce and enabling the further adoption & practice of design thinking across the company.  You will create and facilitate workshops, design and execute meaningful research, mining insights for value-creation, opportunity and break-through thinking.

How do we spark people to be human centered in highly analytical work?How do we empower people to iterate and test qualitative concepts to complement analysis? How do we get teams to embrace failure? How do you start a movement for change?
